Baron Pride (9122) was foaled in May 1890. He was by Sir Everard (5353) and out of Forest Queen by Springhill Darnley. He was bred in Scotland by Messrs R & J Findlay, Springhill, Ballieston. At four years of age he was purchased by Andrew and William Montgomery of Nether Hall, Castle Douglas, Scotland and stood at the Nether Hall Clydesdale Stud. Baron Pride earned $300 000 in the stud.

Barons Pride was the H & A.S Champion of 1894. Barons Pride figures as the sire, or as a sire of a dam, of no less than 18 Cawdor Cup winners. One of his most famous offspring is Baron O’ Buchlyvie who was sold for$45,000.00, the highest price ever paid for a Draft stallion at the time.

Baron’s Pride lived to be 22years of age and he is considered to be one of the Foundation sires of the Clydesdale breed.
